Honey Butter Chicken

1lb chicken breasts

1/2 cup GF flour (I recommend King Arthur)

1/2 cup cornstarch

1 cup ice cold water

Vegetable Oil

1/2 stick butter

2 tbsp sugar

2 tbsp GF soy sauce

2 tbsp honey

  1. Cut up 1 lbs of chicken breasts into smaller chunks

  2. Placed the cut chicken into a bowl and add in flour, cornstarch and ice cold water

  3. Mix together until the batter has a thick consistency

  4. In a pot, heat up vegetable oil on high heat and place each battered piece of chicken into the oil

  5. Cook until it turns into a golden brown color

  6. On medium to high heat, add in butter, sugar, soy sauce and honey into a pan

  7. Stir together until it becomes a caramel color

  8. Place the cooked chicken into the sauce and mix until the chicken is well coated in the sauce

I was scrolling through TikTok when this chicken recipe caught my eye. It seems simple enough to make, but would it taste delicious? I quickly discovered that the answer was YES! I am blown away by how tasty this recipe is. The batter is a thicker tempura consistency which added a crunch to the chicken, and the sauce is so creamy and sweet. As you can see, there are only a few ingredients and the steps are easy to do, taking out 15 minutes to make this dish from start to finish. This recipe reminds me of my orange chicken recipe, but it's definitely a lot less complicated and time consuming. I pair this chicken with some white rice and it gives me that Asian inspired taste. Be careful though... once you eat one piece you won't be able to stop because of its addictive quality!
